Are you ready for New York Local Law 26?
After September 11, 2001 tall building safety became a high priority for the WTC commission and NYC building owners. As a result, NYC Local Law 26 was enacted. The law requires buildings over 75 feet tall to install a complete photoluminescent egress systems in all exit stairwells. Photoluminescent signs must lead building occupants around obstacles, along walls, and down stairs to the nearest exit, assuming the complete failure of all power.
Photoluminescent exit, guidance and directional signs must be installed by July 1, 2006.
